Dear beloved Fiasco fans,

We have some good news and some bad news.

Bad news:
Lucian just transferred schools, and he's moving to California to attend CalArts. So no more Fiasco shows in NY or the east coast for the fall.

Good news:
This does not mean we are breaking up! We are just going on a hiatus. We'll be around to play shows during school breaks. So, don't book us right now (unless you're willing to cover airfare for a weekend). Book Julian and Jonathan's band, Tetsuo!

Hey guys,

Sorry we never got to blog from the road! Our internet access was super spotty and we spent most of our internet minutes putting pictures on flickr and gmailing and playing dolphin olympics.

Anyways, now I'll just do 15 tour blogs in one!

Day 1: DC
We pulled into DC and loaded our stuff into Comet Pizza. Comet Pizza really is a fun place to play and this was our third time. Kalani is the promoter there and he rules. We hung out with him for a bit and saw our friends from the Apes and Four Fins of the Rocket. Arrington played first. He did some insane throat-singing stuff. It was mesmerizing and incredible. I figure if I'm ever a king, I'll hire him to play in my palace all day long.
The Homosexuals also played. They're one of our favorite bands, and they played for like an hour! That was really awesome. We also did a little backstage percussion jam with them before they played.

Day 2: Columbus, OH
The Columbus show was crazy! We played in this little bar but everyone there was super into it! We also got to play with Talk Normal, who are really cool, so that was fun. We also went to this party across the street and pretty much just went upstairs and went on their computer. While we were gmailing I'm pretty sure these 2 dudes started having sex in the bathroom next door.

Day 3: Chicago, IL
This show was really small but Chicago is a really nice place. The next morning we went to an awesome music shop called Chicago Music Exchange. We picked up a small guitar part we needed.

Day 4: Lafayette, IN
Lafayette is a really nice town! It looks like a sort of railroad town from the 1800s. We were supposed to play with AIDS Wolf, but they had to cancel because their steering wheel broke. The show was still really fun though! The promoter here is really cool and he took a video at the show:

Day 5: Hot Springs, AR
This town rules! All these crazy bathhouses and museums and stuff. We were supposed to play with AIDS Wolf again here too, but they cancelled again so they could get to Texas in time. Anyways, we played this festival with Monotonix and Talk Normal. Talk Normal ruled and Monotonix are one of my favorite bands after this show!

Days 6, 7, 8, 9: Austin, TX
SXSW ruled! There's too much to remember so I'm not really going to write anything about this, but we played 9 really really fun shows!

Day 10: Houston, TX
Weird show! We played with AIDS Wolf at this huge place called Numbers. It holds I think 1000 people and the stage is like the size of Bowery Ballroom. I don't mean it's the size of the stage at Bowery - I mean it's the size of the whole Bowery Ballroom! Anyways, there were probably like 20 people there. Weird.
The promoter is named Omar and he's super cool! He's the editor of the independent newspaper there and soon he's opening a vegetarian restaurant! We stayed at his friend Tim's house who is really nice and has an ashtray in his bathroom next to his toothbrush.

Day 11: Scott, LA
This was one of the coolest places we visited on tour! The town reminded me of To Kill a Mockingbird! All the people were super nice and one woman there made an amazing salad! I also got to hold a gun for the first time ever which was really scary. This gun was like 5 feet long and probably weighed 40 pounds. It was a shotgun and the bullets were in the same room.
We visited this guy Paul's house across the street. He's about 80 years old and lives in an old bank. The vault is his kitchen. He has a crazy art collection and it's one of the most beautiful houses I've ever been in.

Day 12: Tuscaloosa, AL
College town with lots of frat houses. We ran into our friend Dave completely by coincidence! He was there on his tour's day off.

Day 13: Greensboro, NC
We played at the University of North Carolina with HEALTH, one of our favorite bands! They're super nice and it was really fun playing with them. This guy gave me his shirt. It says COLLEGE on the front and has no sleeves.

Day 14: Richmond, VA
We love playing at the Triple! The promoter is really nice here and has an awesome website: http://richmondrampage.com/!
Before the show we went to a DD/MM/YYYY show. They're one of my new favorite bands and all such nice dudes!!

Day 15: Philadelphia, PA
This was a cool party at the Danger Danger Gallery. Shellshag and Stupid Party also played.
As we were leaving, we found out the car was running low on Coolant so we went to the best auto shop ever! Jeff Sheehan is the guy and he is incredible! If you ever have car trouble in Phili, go there!

Home/Providence, RI

The drive to providence from boston was really short. Once we got there we hung out with Josh Brown's friend Brian. He lives in this awesome silo-tower thing right next to a giant flea market. We went out quickly to grab some breakfast of chinese food, then came back. He has sweet instruments in his house so we also jammed a lot. Julian and I played this game that was like Risk but only with American wars. You are always america.

We got to RISD and it was freeeezing out. We loaded all of our stuff in and met Jackie, who booked the show. We had a nice quick and easy soundcheck and hung out a little bit with Future Islands & The Long Shadows. We also saw our friend who graduated last year, so that was also cool.

The show was great. There were a fuckload of people there and everybody seemed into it. Later we also ran outside to go to this really tiny diner that's like a staple of providence called the Haven Brothers Diner. It's really fucking small and fantastic. Kind of expensive but worth it. Their coffee is also incredible.

After the show we slept at Jackie's friend Liz's house which was awesome. We talked for a long time about my shitty math teacher, graphic designers, computers, and life in general. it was fun.

Today we woke up late because it was snowin' like a motha and then ate at this cool diner called Louis'. They had the best hashbrowns i've ever eaten. After a long sleepy drive we are finally back in new york and i'm going to sleep.

Boston/Jamaica Plain

We just woke up in Jamaica Plain, MA after a crazy crazy house show.

After a near 5 hour traffic-filled drive. We pulled up to the house and played. Keep in mind it's also like 5˚ out. Our friends from Allston Paddy & Steve came out so it was really really cool to see them. The house we played at actually looked exactly like the inside of Paddy's place, which was weird, but cool. We met this awesome dude with an insane boston accent, who happened to look like this dude we know. This awesome drunk comedian gave us a little of her routine which was hilarious. We also hung out a little bit with this dude we used to know Shane, who used to be in this band called TV Eye.

Anyway so we played a craazyyy show. There weren't too many people in the basement when we first started to play but as time passed lots more people showed up. But then, once we played war pigs, everyone went totally apeshit. I have never been knocked around at a show like that before. It was insane. After War pigs everybody went CRAZY for every song, was ridiculous. We even did an unplanned encore which is something we've never really done before.

We slept at the promoter Daniell's house and watched a bit of American Pyscho. Actually as i'm typing we're finishing it.

All in all, 'twas a great day. Now we leave for providence, RI

3 Day Mini-Tour Recap

Day 1. We drive down to baltimore no problem (except for the peeing emergencies), but got to the old talking head club by accident. We learn where the new one is and go to that one, then decide to look around. The best thing we found was a store i think called "Totally Kids" but for some reason on the awning it said "Kids Totally Kids Totally Kids" so we're going to name a song "Kid Totally Kids Totally Kids (3 Kids, 2 Totally's)

The show itself was really fun. we played with eatadick.com and Adventure. Later that night some asshole let their dog shit near the door of the club, so mad people trotted in dog shit. we even got it on the drum rug and had to cut a hole through it. that sucked. But everything else was good.

After another pee emergency we went to Chevy Chase, MD to stay with Jonathan's aunt & uncle. We got up fairly late and went to dc for the day.

Day 2. DC was cool. we got there at like 3 or 4 so it was still somewhat light out. We went to the National Portrait Gallery, looked at some nice presidential portraits then got food. We all ate at this sandwich place and got sandwiches (except for jonathan). The sandwich was good, but the service of the place wasn't very good, plus there were no bathrooms. Then we decided to go to the mall (washington monument, WWII memorial, lincoln memorial) only because it was at night and we knew that everything would be lit up very nicely, and we were not disappointed. Then we actually took the exact same route back to the train from the last time we were in DC.

We came back just in time to go to Comet Pizza. We all had some awesome pizza. For Christmas, my aunt had some extra nerf guns lying around the house for her son to play with, but then decided to give the guns to me, so we had this sweet nerf set. It was like nerf pistols. Only one "bullet" could go in.

it didn't look anything like that. Anyway we had a nerf war in the parking lot. That ruled. We played with Mr. Tiggles & the Beefe Bong Band. They were cool.

After the comet show ended, we were invited to play a house party that was like a 5 minute car ride away from comet pizza, so we did. It was awesome. A drunk frat dude saw us loading our stuff into the house and started talking to us. He was really funny and nice. He explained that he never seen the kind of music we played and he liked it, which was nice to hear. We also hung out with the sweet band Four Fins of the Rocket
Because of Comet Pizza we missed them, but they are the nicest dudes ever. We went back to ol' Chevy Chase to sleep and then to get down to Richmond Virginia.

Day 3: After a fairly short drive to Richmond, we got there around 4 or 5. Julian had a drumstick crisis so he bought some drumsticks at the local sam ash, which was fucking enormous. It was like twice as big as any music store in NY, plus it was right next to a guitar center. We loaded our gear in at The Tripple which is a pool hall/bar/venue. Another thing we totally forgot about is the fact that in other places in the US you can smoke in restaurants & bars, so that was really weird.

The Lovely Karen went to college in Richmond so she showed us this really fucking amazing diner called 821. The great thing about it is that it specializes in vegan/vegetarian food, but also everything else. So for example in the burger section you can get like a hamburger, cheeseburger, swiss & mushroom burger, veggie burger, and vegan burger. It's fucking brilliant. Their coffee is also fantastic. They also have this insane burger that is sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches. what the fuck? if i didn't eat meat and i was really insanely hungry i think i'd have that.

We then walked around in a neighborhood of richmond that was really empty and the only thing open were bars and a 7-11. There was also a movie theater where movies cost like $2.50. That's insane. That's lower than renting a movie. As soon as we got back to the hotel room, we sort of slept. I applied to NYU, then we had another nerf battle in the parking lot.

Anyway the show later that night was great. It so far had the best turnout, and the coolest guy ever played with us. He goes under the name Gull. He plays guitar with the left hand and drums with the right hand, at the same time. It's so ill. Everyone at the bar and pool section all ran up to see him as soon as he started to play. I have never seen anything like that before. He is also the guitarist in this sweet band Ultra Dolphins .

After the show we went back to the hotel (a comfort inn that was right next to the venue), watched that movie role models, then went to bed.

The ride back was really long and tiresome. I don't remember most of it, because i mostly just slept. I think i ate a veggie burger at burger king. I remember waking up in staten island and thinking we were still stuck in traffic in NJ. All in all, it was a very fun mini-tour.

Back in 7th grade we started our first band and we listened to this song at like pretty much all the band practices. This guy was like my favorite drummer ever for a really long time.
I forgot about this for a really long time but we listened to this song again the other day and it still rules! The drummer is still inspiring!

Tour Blog #8: Milford, CT & BROOKLYN

Milford was by far the weirdest show on tour. Why? it was 21+

a lot of people actually really liked it alot, but we had no idea anybody was even paying attention to us because everybody seemed to be at the bar. A lot of people were also really mad that we didn't have any music available, just posters and shirts.

Panther and Digital Leather played, and both were really awesome. Panther covered one of our favorite songs by Can.

I ate a veggie delite from subway. it wasn't very good. Mike slept in the car, Jonathan did a lot of coke. no, not really.

That night we decided to drive back to new york. We also decided to drop our shit off at the silent barn. So we came back. It was such a nice feeling coming back. We got into the silent barn and saw some familiar faces which was nice. We actually saw Edan (who came with us for half the tour) and we gave him a ride back, it felt like old times.

The next day we got on the train to go to tha barn, and we played a good show. At one point a press photographer took pictures of us for a magazine (i forget which one) but he happened to start shooting when we had to set up our shit. Everybody running the show was a bit antsy and when we went outside to take photos Edan & Dave yelled at us for standing outside.

It was also the premiere of the video for Oh you horny monster! Our awesome friend Carlos did it, and it ruled so much! We're really proud of carlos and proud of the video. We'll put it up when it's online.

Then we played a fun extremely sweaty show. Steve Yankou of No One & The Somebodies was up the whole time freaking out, which is always awesome. We also decided to crowd surf only our instruments. All in all, really fun show.

Tour Blog #7: Burlington, VT

burlington is an odd town. Lotsa old hippies. Very beautiful though. We saw a couple nice views of the lake.

With our buyout, everybody except Julian ate in a weird mexican food joint. Since i don't live in LA and am not surrounded by amazing mexican food everyday, i thought it was good, but i'm sure somebody that lives in a state that boarders mexico would think it sucked.

Then we went to this place called QTee's which was an ice cream place. Ian got a sundae in a boston redsox helmet. They didn't have a yankees helmet so i got a san diego padres helmet.

Claire and Mia came! which was really nice. It's really nice to see familiar faces on tour. We chilled out for a bit.

The opening act was a dude named Luke who played snare drum/keyboard/guitar and looped everything. it was really cool.

Bat attack played and they ruled as always. Then this band from Chicago played called Killer Whales played. They were really good. It was pretty cool funky punk with 2 drummers.

There was a really good crowd there which was nice. I honestly didn't expect many people to be there. In fact a couple people came for us, which as always blew our minds.

Maybe this is me being a biased new yorker, but i think that anybody who loves punk or "alternative" music or DIY culture in burlington just goes to any show regardless of the band. There's not much to do in vermont. i guess you can go to the Ben & Jerry's factory though.

After the show we rode our friends bikes (which we haven't done for a week or so) which was really nice. Then we hung out with our new friends Amanda, Will and Olivia. We had some breakfast with Amanda and Olivia the next day too.

All in all, burlington is fucking strange, but cool place.

Tour Blog #6: Boston, MA

Hey,

Last night we left Providence late and drove to Boston to stay at our friend Paddy's house in Allston, MA (basically in Boston). As we were driving, we saw what looked like a tornado in the sky. We never found out what it was but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a tornado.

We got to the house at like 4 or something and went right to bed, 9 people in one small room. Generally so far I've been sleeping really well but I had a really bad nights sleep, mostly because it was super crowded and uncomfortable and it was pretty loud. When I went to sleep people were talking and then I woke up to people blasting Knyfe Hyts and like playing guitar.

Anyways, I was in and out of sleep for a while and then woke up really late and ate ice cream from a cool vegan ice cream place nearby. Then we went to a music store for a bit. I bought the worst quality drumsticks I've ever bought. They cost $1.50. I bought 5 pairs and broke all of them in 4 songs today. I guess you get what you pay for.

I brought 26 pairs of drumsticks on tour and they're all broken now, which is crazy.

We also got some dust masks at a hardware store, because the basement we played in tonight was super-dusty.

The show tonight was awesome. It was Paddy's 21st birthday party, so a ton of his friends came out, plus a bunch of Bostonian Fiasco fans. We played a short set because we were worried about cops showing up, but they never did.
At the end, we teamed up with our friends Bat Attack to cover "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer, one of Paddy's favorite songs.

The party was super loud and went on really late, so right now we're chillin in our car outside

Tour Blog #5: Providence & AS220

Providence was maad empty. We loaded in and talked to the soundguy, who told us that we can't do covers at all. If a band at AS220 does a cover, they get the power shut off, don't get paid and can never play @ AS220 again. We all checked email and then went out to look around. Mike showed us a cool diner that was literally a trailer. Ian (from bat attack) and I had some veggie burgers, that were probably boca burgers, but they still tasted good. Jonathan's mom Lisa came up also and bought jonathan and I milkshakes from that same place. They ruled. We played a relatively short set (maybe only 20 minutes). it was good. We also met a bunch of people who specifically came to see us, which was awesome and crazy. They we really cool people who offered us to play pool in their house, but we couldn't go because we had to drive up to boston. OH yeah! Our friend Claire happened to be in Providence and she stopped in and said hi. we all freaked out because we haven't seen her in a couple months, and were just totally not expecting it. She said that she'd be in Burlington when we're there also.

As we left for Boston I mooned bat attack. it was awesome

Tour Blog #4: Lancaster, PA & Springfield, MA

Yo,
So 2 days ago we had a show in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with some really cool bands: Fun Dogs, Hot Guts, and Deerhunter. The venue was this café called Ad Lib that had a mall on top of it and 2 pianos inside that we played on. It didn't serve alcohol, only juice and water. Everyone was really nice there, especially all the guys from Deerhunter, who in addition to playing an amazing set, gave us all t-shirts. We had a nice t-shirt swap. We stayed at an Econo Lodge, and in the morning dropped Edan off in Hoboken, NJ on the way to Massachusetts.
In Springfield we had a show at Mike O'Neil's father's Irish social club. We didn't expect a huge turnout, especially after there was a huge hail/rain storm, but about 100 or so people ended up coming. We played with My My, Bat Attack, Aeroplane, 1929, and American Business Machines. Near the end of the set everyone sang along to "War Pigs" and we finished by all playing drums together. Later, us and a guy from Aeroplane, 1929 had a drum circle, banging on chairs and tables and drums. We ate at a 50's diner and blasted some Screamin' Jay Hawkins before heading over to Mike's parents' house and watching the Olympics.

Tour Blog #3: Baltimore and DC

Sorry we didn't blog yesterday! We didn't have any internet.

Anyways, we played a fun show in Baltimore with our new friends Smarts. They're awesome! The dude's bass broke in half halfway through their show. It was a nice small show at this place called Talking Head. We haven't played any shows as small as that one since like 2007, so that was kind of a nice but weird thing.

Then we went to DC. We're staying with Jonathan's aunt and uncle in a town called Chevy Chase which is where all the senators live. We're like 50 feet from John Roberts' house and we're also near Sandra Day O'Connor's house.

We played at Comet Pizza & Ping Pong tonight. The show was amazing! We played with Double Dagger and The Apes, two of our favorite bands. The one bummer was that they took out all the ping pong tables to make room for the show, so we didn't get to play any ping pong. But I think the guys we're staying with in Massachusetts have a ping pong table, so hopefully we'll get some ping pong playing in then.

This afternoon we had some time so we visited like the Lincoln Memorial and those types of places, like the Washington Monument and stuff, which was cool.

Tomorrow we're going to Lancaster PA and playing with Deerhunter!

Tour Blog #2: Philly

Philly is awesome. everybody is really friendly. We left brooklyn (after an insane amount of traffic) then i fell asleep, and awoke in new jersey. We arrived in Philly with lots of time to spare because we got there like two hours before load time, so we ate some french fries and mac and cheese. We met lots of nice friendly people and also ran into old friends. Later the show started and all the bands played and everyone ruled! This blog is really boring i'm sorry.

We played our kickoff show at the Market Hotel just now. It was really great! Bat Attack, So So Glos, Pony Pants, The Homosexuals, and Ninjasonik also played. It was really fun and ended really early (like 12) which was nice but then we stuck around for a bit. This drunk girl was taken away in an ambulance at like 2, so that was a bit of a bummer but overall it was a really good kickoff show, everything we could've hoped for pretty much!

Tomorrow we're leaving for Philadelphia at around noon. I think I lost my drum rug so I might go to like Home Depot tomorrow before we leave. Also the snare mechanism on my snare drum sort of broke, but I think I fixed it enough for now.
