Tour Blog #6: Boston, MA

Hey,

Last night we left Providence late and drove to Boston to stay at our friend Paddy's house in Allston, MA (basically in Boston). As we were driving, we saw what looked like a tornado in the sky. We never found out what it was but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a tornado.

We got to the house at like 4 or something and went right to bed, 9 people in one small room. Generally so far I've been sleeping really well but I had a really bad nights sleep, mostly because it was super crowded and uncomfortable and it was pretty loud. When I went to sleep people were talking and then I woke up to people blasting Knyfe Hyts and like playing guitar.

Anyways, I was in and out of sleep for a while and then woke up really late and ate ice cream from a cool vegan ice cream place nearby. Then we went to a music store for a bit. I bought the worst quality drumsticks I've ever bought. They cost $1.50. I bought 5 pairs and broke all of them in 4 songs today. I guess you get what you pay for.

I brought 26 pairs of drumsticks on tour and they're all broken now, which is crazy.

We also got some dust masks at a hardware store, because the basement we played in tonight was super-dusty.


The show tonight was awesome. It was Paddy's 21st birthday party, so a ton of his friends came out, plus a bunch of Bostonian Fiasco fans. We played a short set because we were worried about cops showing up, but they never did.
At the end, we teamed up with our friends Bat Attack to cover "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer, one of Paddy's favorite songs.


The party was super loud and went on really late, so right now we're chillin in our car outside

Tour Blog #5: Providence & AS220

Providence was maad empty. We loaded in and talked to the soundguy, who told us that we can't do covers at all. If a band at AS220 does a cover, they get the power shut off, don't get paid and can never play @ AS220 again. We all checked email and then went out to look around. Mike showed us a cool diner that was literally a trailer. Ian (from bat attack) and I had some veggie burgers, that were probably boca burgers, but they still tasted good. Jonathan's mom Lisa came up also and bought jonathan and I milkshakes from that same place. They ruled. We played a relatively short set (maybe only 20 minutes). it was good. We also met a bunch of people who specifically came to see us, which was awesome and crazy. They we really cool people who offered us to play pool in their house, but we couldn't go because we had to drive up to boston. OH yeah! Our friend Claire happened to be in Providence and she stopped in and said hi. we all freaked out because we haven't seen her in a couple months, and were just totally not expecting it. She said that she'd be in Burlington when we're there also.

As we left for Boston I mooned bat attack. it was awesome

Tour Blog #4: Lancaster, PA & Springfield, MA

Yo,
So 2 days ago we had a show in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with some really cool bands: Fun Dogs, Hot Guts, and Deerhunter. The venue was this café called Ad Lib that had a mall on top of it and 2 pianos inside that we played on. It didn't serve alcohol, only juice and water. Everyone was really nice there, especially all the guys from Deerhunter, who in addition to playing an amazing set, gave us all t-shirts. We had a nice t-shirt swap. We stayed at an Econo Lodge, and in the morning dropped Edan off in Hoboken, NJ on the way to Massachusetts.
In Springfield we had a show at Mike O'Neil's father's Irish social club. We didn't expect a huge turnout, especially after there was a huge hail/rain storm, but about 100 or so people ended up coming. We played with My My, Bat Attack, Aeroplane, 1929, and American Business Machines. Near the end of the set everyone sang along to "War Pigs" and we finished by all playing drums together. Later, us and a guy from Aeroplane, 1929 had a drum circle, banging on chairs and tables and drums. We ate at a 50's diner and blasted some Screamin' Jay Hawkins before heading over to Mike's parents' house and watching the Olympics.

Tour Blog #3: Baltimore and DC

Sorry we didn't blog yesterday! We didn't have any internet.

Anyways, we played a fun show in Baltimore with our new friends Smarts. They're awesome! The dude's bass broke in half halfway through their show. It was a nice small show at this place called Talking Head. We haven't played any shows as small as that one since like 2007, so that was kind of a nice but weird thing.

Then we went to DC. We're staying with Jonathan's aunt and uncle in a town called Chevy Chase which is where all the senators live. We're like 50 feet from John Roberts' house and we're also near Sandra Day O'Connor's house.

We played at Comet Pizza & Ping Pong tonight. The show was amazing! We played with Double Dagger and The Apes, two of our favorite bands. The one bummer was that they took out all the ping pong tables to make room for the show, so we didn't get to play any ping pong. But I think the guys we're staying with in Massachusetts have a ping pong table, so hopefully we'll get some ping pong playing in then.

This afternoon we had some time so we visited like the Lincoln Memorial and those types of places, like the Washington Monument and stuff, which was cool.

Tomorrow we're going to Lancaster PA and playing with Deerhunter!

Tour Blog #2: Philly

Philly is awesome. everybody is really friendly. We left brooklyn (after an insane amount of traffic) then i fell asleep, and awoke in new jersey. We arrived in Philly with lots of time to spare because we got there like two hours before load time, so we ate some french fries and mac and cheese. We met lots of nice friendly people and also ran into old friends. Later the show started and all the bands played and everyone ruled! This blog is really boring i'm sorry.

Tour Blog #1: Brooklyn NY

We played our kickoff show at the Market Hotel just now. It was really great! Bat Attack, So So Glos, Pony Pants, The Homosexuals, and Ninjasonik also played. It was really fun and ended really early (like 12) which was nice but then we stuck around for a bit. This drunk girl was taken away in an ambulance at like 2, so that was a bit of a bummer but overall it was a really good kickoff show, everything we could've hoped for pretty much!

Tomorrow we're leaving for Philadelphia at around noon. I think I lost my drum rug so I might go to like Home Depot tomorrow before we leave. Also the snare mechanism on my snare drum sort of broke, but I think I fixed it enough for now.
